A California family’s home was targeted by a group of teens who had been bullying their daughter, with the incident resulting in a baby nursery being set on fire. The family, Anthony Cadena and Leslie Morgan, had been preparing for the arrival of their new baby, but the firework attack on June 30 destroyed everything they had ready.
The incident occurred in the Sacramento suburb of Citrus Heights, where the family resides. According to the family, the girls responsible for the attack had been bullying and trying to fight their daughter.
Security Video Captures the Attack
Security video allegedly shows two teen girls targeting the family’s home, located in the 7700 block of Bierston Street. The video appears to show the girls lighting a “firecracker” and tossing it into the residence.
Cadena was the only person home at the time of the attack and reported seeing smoke coming from the nursery after Morgan called him and told him she spotted the fire on their home’s security cameras.

“The whole baby’s room is torched,” Cadena said. “It’s done… all the rooms in the house are covered in soot… everything.”
Family Reacts to the Attack
Morgan described the incident as “devastating” and said she couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to do something like that. The family has chosen to forgive the girls involved, with Morgan stating, “Our family forgives these girls because that’s what we do. We’re not holding a grudge against them.”
Morgan hopes that the incident will serve as a lesson for the girls involved, saying, “I do hope that something happens to change their perspective. We just hope they learn their lesson from this.”
The teens involved are reportedly facing charges of arson, aggravated arson, burglary, and conspiracy, along with a third teen who was allegedly part of the firework attack.
According to the family, the attack was particularly disturbing given that the girls allegedly saw that the room they targeted was a baby nursery. Morgan said, “Seeing someone actually do that to someone’s house… they saw it was a baby room… just to see that these girls just don’t care about anything… it’s unbelievable, honestly, that they would do something like that.”

A crime like arson can have serious consequences, and the family is likely to face a long recovery process. The community has come together to support the family, with a GoFundMe campaign set up to help them rebuild and prepare for the arrival of their new baby.
Investigation and Charges
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the teens involved are facing serious charges. The family’s focus is now on rebuilding and moving forward, with their new baby expected to arrive soon.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing bullying and the potential consequences of such behavior. Morgan and Cadena’s forgiveness and hope for the girls involved to learn from their actions demonstrate their strength and resilience.
They are moving forward.
